Queens' School February 2026 Newsletter

Letter from the Headteacher

Dear Parents / Carers
Years 11 and 13 are now drawing to the end of their respective key stages, with approximately 8 school weeks left until Study Leave. Many of our students will hopefully be encouraged by their performance in the recent Mock examinations and will be reviewing next steps. In considering career choices and options, students should be aware of Unifrog, an online universal destinations platform free to Queens’ students and all the latest local careers updates from Herts Opportunities Portal. In addition, our successful Apprenticeship Week, signposted a wealth of vocations.
We continue to be very fortunate to have a huge range of enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities available to our students. With over 100 clubs on offer and a multitude of different trips, local, national and international, there is something for everyone at Queens’. These opportunities form an integral part of the wider Queens' Experience on offer and we are delighted to have such a dedicated staff willing to give so freely of their time.
We encourage parents/carers and students to formally thank staff through National Thank a Teacher. I am delighted to confirm that we are currently ranked the top school in the country under this scheme. When sending these digital cards, please clearly signpost Queens’ School and the teacher/support staff name. If you are unsure of their email address, do not worry, we will forward it on to the relevant member of staff.
We sadly say goodbye to Mrs Manning who has been instrumental in creating an outstanding careers programme and establishing Queens’ as a Careers Hub for SW Herts. We wish her the very best of luck in the future in her new role working in careers for HCC.
Finally, we always take delight in hearing about the successes of our students outside of school. Please send photographs to office@queens.herts.sch.uk with a summary of any significant achievements so that they can be displayed in our Hall of Fame or on our social media platforms under the initiative ‘Be Your Best’.
I would like to wish you a restful and happy and enjoyable half-term break.
