We are helping piloting a new resource called Skills Builder. This platform identifies eight essential skills that are highly transferable skills which support individuals to use their technical skills and knowledge. They ease how individuals work with other people, structure a problem to solve, or communicate what should happen? The eight skills are:

Initially, we will be highlighting when we are using/developing these skills in our lessons.

Bebras


We have taken part in the UK Bebras Challenge for the second year.  Problem Solving is a fundamental skills that is very much at the heart of what we teach in Computer Science.

Similar to last year, all students who study Computer Science are entered into this Computational Thinking Challenge.  That is all of KS3 (Year 7, year 8 and year 9), and all GCSE and A Level Computer Science students.

This year we had 72 students achieving the Gold award - that is being in the top 10% of students in the whole of the UK! The list of Gold winners created quite a buzz around the notice board.

Grant News

We are thrilled that we have been awarded a grant from Edufund for some new Microbit robotic accessories. The pupils will benefit greatly from these additions to our offering and we will publish photos of them in action in the next newsletter.
