Historical Admissions Test Data
This table is for use as a guide only.
The figures quoted below are the marks that were the lowest, in that particular year, to achieve entry under the Academic, Music and Sports Criteria. THEY ARE NOT pass marks or marks that must be achieved in order to gain an offer of a place at Queens’ School.
The lowest mark is that obtained by an applicant when the number of places available for that criterion is reached, whatever that may be.
Please note that, even if your child has scored higher than the previous year’s test marks, it does not automatically mean that they will be offered a place here as we do not know how many people are going to apply with a higher test score than your child. The same principle applies to places which are offered to applicants living closest to the school. Again, we have given the farthest distance offered under Distance for the past three years, however, in any given year we do not know how many applicants are living nearer than you and therefore there is no guarantee of being allocated a place, even if you live nearer than these historical distances.
Each year is different. Therefore, the lowest mark required for a place in Year 7 in September will be known only when the offers have been made. These scores are from Allocation Day on 3rd March, and whose permanent residence is located within postcodes WD3-7, WD17-19, WD23-25, AL2 (south of M25), HA6, HA5 3**, HA5 4**, HA3 6**, HA7 3**, HA7 4**
| 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Academic | 186 | 181 | 186 | 188 |
| Music (Lowest 2nd Stage Music score) | 30 | 31 | 33 | 35 |

| Furthest distance | 1108.84m | 1269.640m | 1237.06m | 1020.57m |
There is no pass mark for the academic test, places being offered in accordance with our admission arrangements.
Once you have received your test score , you will be able to decide which school(s) you wish to apply to.
National Allocation Day - 2nd March 2026
Depending on the method used in applying for a school place, parents or carers will receive either an email during the afternoon of the allocation day or a letter will be sent on allocation day from your Local Authority notifying you of the school place your child has been allocated for September.
Your allocation will be available through your online account later in the evening of the national allocation day
If your application to this school has been successful, you will receive a letter confirming the offer of the place. We would ask that you accept or decline your place as soon as possible.
If you have not been successful in your application to this school, letters will be sent out on national allocation day with information regarding your child's position on the continuing interest list and also information about how to appeal. We would request that you do not call the school before you receive this letter.
Continuing Interest
Following National Allocation Day, all applicants who listed Queens' School higher than the school they have been allocated will automatically be rolled onto the continuing interest list. Please inform the school or the Local Authority if you do not wish to remain on the list.
You will not remain on this school's continuing interest list if you have been allocated a school you ranked higher than this school.
Second (and final) Round of Continuing Interest
If you are allocated a different school you will be contacted by the Local Authority. If further vacancies occur they will be filled from the continuing interest list. The continuing interest list will continue until the end of the summer term at which time if applicants wish to remain on the list they will need to complete an in-year application form.
It is worth noting that the school receives few withdrawals at this stage and it is therefore important that you make alternative arrangements for your child by accepting a place at another secondary school. There is no statistical analysis, from one year to the next, as to how many places will be accepted or declined by applicants.
Appeals
Parents or carers who have been unsuccessful with their application are entitled to appeal. All appeals for a place at Queens' School are through Hertfordshire County Council.
| Year | Number of appeals lodged for Queens' School | Number of appeals heard for Queens' School | Number of appeals upheld |

| 2023 | 35 | 26 | 6 |
| 2024 | 48 | 38 | 5 |
