Slapton Residential Trip

We are delighted to already have been to Slapton with our A Level Geographers, where they had a successful week collecting data for their NEAs.  To celebrate the end of the week a campfire was hosted on the beach, whilst stargazing.  Let’s hope they made some wishes on the shooting stars they saw.

Summer competition winners

Over the summer we ran two competitions.

Year 6 & 7 (now year 7 & 8) were challenged to see how many Humanities related activities they could do over the summer break.

Congratulations to 7AE for the most number of entries!

Year12 (now year 13) were challenged to create an oral presentation on a Humanities based theme.

Congratulations to Poppy M for her fantastic presentation.

Debating club

Mr Macleod runs Debating Club once a month on Friday at 1.25  in room 20.

Sixth form Philosophy Society

MP Visit

We welcomed Hertsmere MP Sir Oliver Dowden to our sixth form Politics lessons. He led a Q & A with our students as well as explaining his role as an MP

University Visit

Year 12 will visit the University of Sussex in the coming few weeks, which is an excellent opportunity to start considering Uni life for our Geographer.  They will tour the campus and have a chance to experience a lecture.

Humanities in the news

Emergency weather warnings have been issued in Spain as an event known as ‘Dana’ sweeps across the Balearic Islands and Alicante.  This high impact storm is bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and flash flooding. Keep an eye out in the news for further details about this event.

Forthcoming Trips

We have lots of exciting plans in store for the year in Humanities including:

  • Day trips to Brighton, Watford,  Six the Musical, The Imperial Museum and Bhagdevedenta Manor

  • Sixth Form university visits to Sussex, Reading and Hertfordshire

  • Residential trips to York and Poland

  • Competitions to mark Holocaust Memorial week and World Religion Day.
