Welcome to the Humanities Spring Term 2026 Newsletter
Interfaith Iftar
We held our annual interfaith Iftar at the end of February. It was wonderful to see so many of the school community come together for prayer, community and food. Miss Hall and Mr Harris also fasted for the day to raise money for charity.
Many thanks to Miss Rahemani, Mrs Charlton, Mr Ali and Miss Alaaldin for all their work to make the event happen as well as to the year 12 and 13 students who helped and presented on the day.

A Level Student Politics Conference
Our Year 12 Politics students attended the annual A Level Student Politics Conference in London. There was an incredible line up of Politicians this year, Zack Polanski, Alastair Campbell, Wes Streeting and many more. Interesting discussions were had on current affairs, engaging the youth in Politics and party policies. Well done to our students for truly demonstrating Queens’ values and for their engagement throughout the conference. Lots to discuss back in the classroom! Many thanks to Miss Alaaldin for organising and Mr Brothwood for accompanying them.

Six
At the start of March, 30 students in year 8 went to Six the Musical; a musical about Henry VIII’s six wives. Many thanks to Ms Westgarth and Miss Alaaldin for accompanying them. This is our annual visit and we look forward to taking the current year 7 in 2027!

Cambridge University
In late March, 14 students in year 12 visited Cambridge University as part of our challenge and aspiration programme. Students toured the campus and gained a greater insight into the life and work of Cambridge University. Many thanks to Ms Watkins and Mr Titley for accompanying them.
Humanities Club
Recently, upon popular request, we have covered a variety of historical events across the globe, from Gladiator battles in Rome over to the States for the American Civil War. We also link to the topic Crime and Punishment to cover some unsolved crimes such as Jack the Ripper. Our sessions encourage key skills such as critical thinking, creativity and leadership by engaging in group games and individual activities all accompanied by weekly treats and prizes. Furthermore, all our games use household items in which anyone can recreate at home! To encourage extra humanities learning for everyone!
What is next?
As my sessions with Humanities Club come to a close, I'm happy to announce I'm handing over leadership to Jaini and Zara (Year 12), presenting their first taster session after Easter! Finally, I’m so lucky to have such a lovely group show up every week and I'm incredibly proud of all of them and all their achievements!
By Poppy Manley (Year 13)
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter.
