¡Viva Málaga! Year 12 Spanish Immersion Trip

Over the Easter break, our Year 12 Spanish students traded their textbooks for the sunny streets of Benalmádena, Málaga for a week of intensive linguistic and cultural immersion. Led by Mrs. Hanbury, the group of 13 students embarked on this journey to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world fluency.

Intensive Learning at Maravillas

The core of the trip was hosted by the Maravillas language school, where students spent the mornings with Pilar, an experienced Spanish teacher who helped them to advance in all skills. We thoroughly enjoyed the cultural activities in the afternoon, such as the flamenco lesson and paella making, where students had the opportunity to fully immerse in and experience the unique Andalusian culture.

Culture and Connection

Beyond the classroom, the trip provided a vital opportunity for students to experience the Andalusian way of life during one of the most vibrant times of the year. Staying in Benalmádena allowed the group to explore the local region, practise their Spanish with native speakers in shops and restaurants, and soak up the unique atmosphere of the Costa del Sol.

A Resounding Success

The trip was a fantastic success, with the teaching staff at Maravillas noting the group's ‘high level of engagement and desire to improve’. Students returned with significantly boosted confidence in their speaking abilities and a deeper appreciation for the Spanish culture they study every day.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Hanbury and Mr. Spada for accompanying the students and making this valuable experience possible. We look forward to seeing our Year 12s apply their new linguistic 'flair' in their upcoming exams!
