Queens' Sports Academy February 2026 Newsletter

What have our 3 Academy teams been doing this half-term?

Basketball Academy

The Queens’ School Basketball Academy has continued to build momentum this season and currently holds a strong 9–1 record, reflecting the team’s commitment to improvement, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The squad has developed a clear identity built on defence, hustle, and unselfish play, which has been evident in performances throughout the year.

A strong showing from returning students Archie Grannum, Hamed Gandour, Luke Kendell, and Adam Garfa has provided leadership, experience, and consistency on the court. The team has also been bolstered by Year 12 students Adrian Mordi and Tiago Cardoso, whose energy, skill, and impact have strengthened the squad in key moments this season.

With the final stretch of the season approaching, the focus remains on continuing to improve, maintaining high standards, and finishing the season strongly while proudly representing Queens’ School.

Boys Football Academy

Over the last couple of months, our academy boys have shown outstanding commitment and intensity in training, with sessions marked by high standards, strong competition, and real attention to detail as we build towards our next fixture against Capital City College on Wednesday 4th February.

The quality of work on and off the ball has been excellent, and this has been reflected in individual progress, most notably with Chase Matthew earning inclusion in his county representative teams and continuing to progress impressively through the ESFA England Schoolboys trial pathway — a fantastic achievement and testament to his hard work.

Looking ahead, there is even more to be excited about as we prepare to move our training and home games to a brand new, state-of-the-art, fully floodlit 11-a-side astro facility, which will provide an outstanding environment to further develop our players and raise standards even higher.

Girls Football Academy

It’s been a stop-start beginning to the year for our Girls Academy. While the ambition is high, Mother Nature has had other plans. A string of waterlogged pitches and postponed matches has led to a frustrating run of weeks without a game, leaving the team itching for some matches.

Despite the damp days, spirits haven't been dampened. The players has handled the recent lack of matches with patience, turning that built-up energy into quality training sessions.

The big talking point around the school is the brand-new Astro turf pitch. Having a world-class surface for both training and matches has been a massive boost for morale and we are eager to get going with our 1st match on the new pitch.
