Science December 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to the Science Newsletter

Science Club

Science club is every week on a Wednesday and we've had some great experiments. From getting DNA from a kiwi to creating rockets! Our Sixth former Dany led the rocket experiment which was a lovely moment as he used to come to Science club when he was in year 7.

Healthcare Society

Healthcare Society is every Tuesday lunch. We've had some really interesting discussions and debates. Chizi in year 13 led a debate on assisted dying, which is very topical as it's currently being discussed in parliament.

Mrs Jones' sister, Anna Mitchell from Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS trust, did a careers talk about Endocrinology and the students had some really interesting questions, from what does a day in the life look like to what's your weirdest case.

Mrs Manning also organised a careers talk from Alumni Sarah Andrews, on how she's now got a job programming a robotic arm for surgeons, and Nick Andrews from the Health Security Agency on the effectiveness of vaccines.
