Letter from the Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers
As we draw to the end of the Autumn term and indeed 2025, we are always reminded of the special nature of Queens’. It has been a term filled with warmth, reflection, and the spirit of giving, and we are proud to honour the diverse cultures represented within our school. The numerous festivities cross cultures and there is very much a shared sense of togetherness.
We are enormously proud of the gifts and talents of our students and so many flourish in their different pursuits across the school. With over 100 clubs and societies, there is something for everyone at Queens’. Of course, many of our students achieve greatly outside of school, and we kindly invite you to share any accomplishments in sports, music, art, clubs, competitions, awards, community involvement. Please send details, including a photo to office@queens.herts.sch.uk We will be delighted to share in our assemblies and on our social media platforms.
Queens’ students remain committed to raising money for charity and our annual Christmas Jumper Day in support of Save the Children and Watford Foodbank raised over £500. We will be holding a non-uniform event on the last day of term which funds are divided between the QPA and House charities.
As we finish the term, I would like to acknowledge the commitment, hard work and dedication of Queens’ staff who go the extra mile to give students a broad and enriching learning experience, both inside and outside of the classroom. They are truly Outstanding.
We celebrate some fantastic milestones this year in our staff long-service awards. Mr Smith, Mr Dunn, Mrs Phillips, Ms Besse, Mrs Buckingham all celebrate 25 years and Mrs Jenner, Mrs Jones, Mrs Taplin and Mrs Day, 20 years. Their collective services extend to over 200 years, and we would very much like to thank them for their brilliant support of Queens’ School. Please join in thanking our staff directly using the Thank a Teacher. We are currently the highest-ranking school nationally.
We sadly say goodbye to Ms Porter and Ms Emerick and a fond farewell to Mrs Bean who retires after 20 years of service. We wish them all the very best of luck in the future.
Through the Queens' School Development Fund we are currently raising funds for new outdoor equipment such as TeQ football and outdoor table tennis tables so please consider making regular contributions. More information on how you can donate is on the Queens' School Development Fund page of the school website.
Finally, please keep a watchful eye on the Queens’ X feed (formerly known as Twitter), @queensSch. We are continuously updating our social media with news about our school community. We also now have Instagram, Facebook, Threads and LinkedIn pages.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and look forward to working with you all again in 2026. We start back on Monday 5 January.

Fundraising & Marketing December 2025 Newsletter
Published 11/12/25Queens' Den 2025
The joint Fundraising & Business Studies department's annual entrepreneurial fundraising event "Queens' Den 2025" has officially started with our 6 finalist teams busy selling their products and services to fellow pupils and their friends and family.
Our teams are:
-
Frost & Found - Year 7
-
Brookie Bros - Year 9
-
JNY - Year 10
-
Bookworm Designs - Year 7
-
Festive Treats - Year 8
-
Chocoberry - Year 7
Each team has been given £30 to set up their small business and they have been given the opportunity to sell their products and services once a week at lunchtime in the Dance Studio. These "Queens' Den Weekly Marketplaces" have been extremely busy with long lines forming and stock selling out quickly!

Grant News
Mrs Marks was awarded a grant of £1,200 from Edufund for a new treadmill and exercise bench for the PE department which have now been delivered and are already being used to their full advantage!

The Queens' School Development Fund
The Development Fund was set up to help provide and improve facilities and opportunities for our pupils. All contributions to the fund will be used for the things that the school may not otherwise be able to afford in the current funding climate.
After discussions with pupils we have decided that for academic year 2025/2026 we want to raise money to purchase a selection of outdoor equipment for our pupils to use during break and lunchtimes. Feedback from our pupils is that there is not much to do in the outside areas of school, and they really want to have some fun and exciting equipment to help make their free time more enjoyable. We also feel, by having more equipment outdoors, that those children who prefer to stay inside will be encouraged to spend their breaks outside.

Please click HERE to find out more about the Fund in more detail and how you can make such contributions.
Amazon Wishlists
Buying an item from the Queens’ School Amazon Wishlists is an easy way to directly support the teachers and pupils. Each department has their own list containing items that will enhance their lessons and they range vastly in price so there is an item to suit everyone’s budget. Please consider buying an item to thank a specific teacher or department or for the School as a whole.
The Amazon Wishlists can be found HERE.
Queens’ School 100 Club
The Queens’ 100 Club is a fun way to support the school and be in with a chance of winning a monthly cash prize. For only £24 per year you will be entered into a monthly prize draw to win 50% of the month’s takings. The other 50% will go directly to the School. All information can be found HERE.
Other ways to Support The School
There are many other ways to support the School so please take a look HERE to see how you can help.
The consistency and generosity of regular contributions by parents and carers is vitally important to our success so we thank you in advance for your support.
Social Media

Did you know we have 5 Social Media Accounts? They are all very active and full of photos and useful information for all pupils, parents and carers so please make sure you follow us and share with friends and family so they can also see what a great place Queens’ is.
