On Tuesday 3rd July, 50 fabulous Y8 students visited the home of Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon, enjoying a picnic by the river before watching the Royal Shakespeare Company performance of Romeo and Juliet, a text which all Y8s have studied this year. It was youthful, energetic and ‘tomboyish’ and for all you Shakespeare buffs out there Mercutio was played as a beat performance poet by a woman and Prince Escalus was a Princess. Out of the five or so schools in the audience, Queens’ shone with their immaculate behaviour; other audience members remarked how impressed they were with our students. Even Mr Reynolds’ mum (who popped down as she only lives round the corner) thought Y8 were lovely! Thanks to Ms. Jacobs for organising the trip.
