On Friday 2nd February, the Art department took 40 Y11 students to Tate Britain. As there is such a wide range of art there, students were given independence to look around at the work of their choice and explore ideas and techniques that they may want to try out in their examination project. This year there was a very interesting room of Antony Gormley’s work of three dimensional sketches (The artist who created the huge sculpture called “The Angel of the North”). After a few hours enjoying the gallery we walked along to Pimlico Pizza Express to enjoy food and some down time together with the art team. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of our year 11 students!
In the Art department we continue to open rooms at Lunch and after school for those who prefer to work in school and use our space and materials. We also offer supported study sessions for those students studying at exam level who would like extra help outside of lesson time.
KS3 Art club also runs every week.
