This half term, many of our sports teams have once again done Queens’ School proud!
In Boys’ Basketball, the Year 9 team has enjoyed success both in County and National competitions. They are on course to reach the play-offs in the County and are probably favourites to lift the trophy for a second year. They have also reached the quarter finals of the Nationals where they are looking forward to a road trip to play Blue Coats School in Liverpool. The Year 10 team remains unbeaten this season in both county and national competition.
In Girls’ Basketball, the Year 10 team became district champions, and are on course to make the county finals next month; the Year 8 team were runners up in the district. The Year 8s have won two and lost one match and have one more to play which will decide if they make it to the county final.
In the Football District Leagues, the boys’ teams in Years 8, 9 and 11 all won their respective leagues, with the Year 7 and 10 teams only narrowly missing out and coming runners up. The Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 A teams all got to the quarter finals of their County Cups and the Year 9s have progressed to the semi-finals where they will play Broxbourne School; the Year 9s have also made it through to the semi-finals of the National Cup for Elite Schools for the third year in a row. In our B teams, the Year 8 B team only just missed out on promotion and Year 7 made it to the quarter-finals of the county cup.
Girls’ Football has also had a great half term. Our Year 7 team went to Norwich this year to represent Queens’ at Regional finals. The girls finished 3rd overall, a great achievement and experience for them. The Under 16 girls are through to the County Cup final where they will try and defend their trophy.
Congratulations to all the students and staff for their dedication, passion and SUCCESS!
