At Queens’ we recognise that the learning that happens outside the classroom is as important as that which takes place within. All students have access to a wide range of opportunities. Extracurricular activities are therefore an essential part of the educational experience at Queens’ and there is very much an expectation of participation.
Our sporting facilities are second to none and we therefore have an extensive all year round out of hours sporting curriculum. Extra-curricular sport is enjoyed by a large number of students in a wide variety of sports including rugby, netball, football, hockey, athletics, rounders, cricket, basketball and tennis.
Students enjoy taking part in concerts and theatrical performances, visiting places of interest and participating in residential trips, including foreign expeditions. Queens’ benefits from an increasing number of international links with partner schools in Taiwan and Zambia. Exchanges allows students to broaden their horizons learn about different cultures and create global links and opportunities.
Students are keen to participate in the running and development of our school. They have the opportunity to represent their peers through the elected School Council, play a part in the staff recruitment process and take on various student leadership roles.
Queens’ offers the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level. The programme is a real adventure, a once in a lifetime opportunity to ‘do something different’.
Our Combined Cadet Force is regularly praised for providing our cadets with a wide range of challenging activities which test pupils’ practical skills, promotes resilience, responsibility and leadership
