Meet the Governors

Julie Raybould

CHAIR OF GOVERNORS
 
Category of Governor: Community Governor
Term of Office: 12/10/17-11/10/21
Current responsibilities: I was elected Chair of Governors in March 2017 and sit on both the Curriculum & Staffing and the Finance Committees. I am currently one of the Safeguarding link governors, with specific responsibility for Pupil Premium and Looked After children. I’m also link governor for the Modern Foreign Languages Department and in addition to my governance responsibilities I have also been a student mentor with Queens’ Career Ready program.
Governance Experience: I have 10 years experience as a school governor. Prior to joining the Queens’ governing body I was a governor in primary education and served a term of 3 years as chair of governors. I have trained in Safer Recruitment, Safeguarding, Handling complaints, Managing complaints and allegations against staff, Head’s Performance Management and most recently Prevent.
Professional Experience: I spent 28 years working in the Travel and Tourism industry where I managed a team responsible for a million travellers a year. I had oversight of a multimillion £ budget and extensive exposure to corporate HR issues. A later career change took me into recruitment, where I currently work as a freelance part-time career consultant.

Keith Cook

Term of Office: 16/12/2015 – 15/12/201
Current Responsibilities: I was elected Vice Chair of Governors in March 2017 and sit on the Curriculum & Staffing Committee. In addition I am the link governor for the Art, Music & Drama Departments Department and also the Governor Development Co-Ordinator – helping to ensure that the Governing Body is suitably trained and has all the skills required to discharge its duties.
Governance Experience: I have over 10 years’ experience as a school governor, both in Primary and Secondary education and, as Chair of Governors at my previous school, helped its transition from Good to Outstanding. I am a Hertfordshire Senior Leader of Governance and support other schools within the County when there is a need. Additionally I am trainer for Herts for Learning on their Advanced Chairs Skills Course for Change Management. I have a passion for supporting children with learning difficulties to ensure they can fully access the curriculum.
Professional Experience: I have worked in IT and Data Communications for more than 30 years and am currently Deputy Financial Controller for a European IT Company, with a turnover of £3bn, having held several positions during my 27 years’ service. I hold a BS (Hons) degree in Leadership and Professional Development and am currently studying for an MSc in Business and Organisational Strategy. I am a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, as well as being a member of the Institute of Management and the Institute of Directors. As a member of the Association of Car Fleet Operators I feature regularly in the Fleet Press and present at industry events, where I am a published author in the ‘Expert Opinion’ series of books. I am married with 5 children, 3 of whom currently attend Queens’.

Louise Jackson

Term of Office: 18/09/2015 – 18/09/2019
Current Responsibilities: I was elected onto the Governing body as a Teacher Staff Governor in 2015 and sit on the Finance & GP Committee. I am also link governor for the IT Department. In addition to my governance and teaching responsibilities I am also a member and joint chair of the Queens’ staff wellbeing team.
Governance Experience: I have 2 years experience as a school governor.
Professional Experience: I attended London Southbank University after A levels to study Food Science.I graduated with a BSc (Hons) and spent 12 month working in Australia before joining Novartis Nutrition UK Ltd (Ovaltine) as a Chemical Analyst/Technical Services Manager.
I moved from that post to The Albert Fisher Group as Development Manager where I took responsibility for retail product development, spending most of my time working in South East Asia developing new business. During this time I moved onto a change management project working with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, working across various parts of the business.From here I moved into Product Development as an Innovations Manager working for Saxon Valley Foods, part of Geest plc. Responsible for the product development team across chilled ready meals and soups for a major supermarket brand.
A later career change took me into teaching where I still work, as a food technology teacher and I am currently head of food studies.

Governance Experience: New to the role.
Professional Experience: Worked for 40 years in Industry as an Accountant and Supply Chain Professional.
Held a number of Senior Positions in Manufacturing, Distribution and Supply Chain.
Personal Interests: Committee Member of Friends of Cassiobury Park, Allotment Holder, enjoys Music, Reading, Cycling, Dog Walking and relaxing.
