SCHOOL RULES
THESE RULES APPLY TO ALL STUDENT IN THE SCHOOL
THEY APPLY DURING JOURNEYS TO AND FROM SCHOOL,
WHATEVER YOUR MEANS OF TRANSPORT
Their general purpose is to encourage you to show respect for people and property.
- Respect people at all times. Be courteous, kind and helpful to teachers, support staff, visitors and your fellow students, regardless of their colour, religion, race, language, sexuality or background. Address male staff as “Sir” or “Mr” with his surname and female staff as Ma’am, “Mrs” or “Miss” with her surname.
- Take care of the school environment. You should do nothing which would make our school less pleasant.
- Take care of your own property and show respect for the property of others. Put your name on your own possessions so that they can be returned to you if they are lost.
- Behave in a sensible manner. Never act in a way that is dangerous to yourself or others. Do not bring anything into school which would disturb the normal school routine or which is not for use in an activity approved by the school.
YOU MUST
- Observe school uniform rules (6th form students must observe the official dress code).
- Keep to the left when moving round the building and in the underpass.
- Always use the underpass to move between North and South sides, otherwise keep away from the area around the underpass. NEVER CROSS ALDENHAM ROAD.
- Eat and drink only in the dining halls, playgrounds or in designated areas for eating, NEVER in the building.
- Put litter in a bin.
- Keep away from car/motor cycle parking spaces and the driveways in front of the buildings.
- Report breakages immediately to a member of staff and contribute to the cost of repair.
- Take lost property to Matron or the South Reception as soon as you find it.
- Report the loss or theft of your property immediately to a member of staff.
YOU MUST NOT
- Bully or threaten another student in any way.
- Absent yourself from a lesson at anytime during the school day unless you have the permission of a teacher and have been given an orange permission slip.
- Leave school premises at anytime during the school day unless you have signed out with a note from your parent/carer or the permission of your Head of House/Head of 6th Form.
- Run in the corridors.
- Spit or smoke.
- Loiter in or near to the underpass.
- Bring chewing gum to school.
- Use the front door North or South to go to a classroom or dining room (except 6th Form students).
- Use the centre staircase North (except 6th Form students).
- Drop litter.
- Bring electronic gadgets into school e.g. MP3 players, iPods.
MOBILE PHONES
Mobile phones are allowed in school but must be turned off and kept out of sight from 8.30 a.m. until the end of school. The use of the camera/video mode is not permitted under any circumstances. During P.E. and external exams phones, along with other valuables, must be handed in to a member of staff in a named, clear plastic wallet. In practical lessons, such as Technology, Art and Music you must keep your phone and valuables with you. This also applies when in the LRC.
OUT OF BOUNDS AREAS
When you are allowed on the fields, make sure you know what areas are out of bounds. Ask your tutor, Head of House or any of the senior staff if you are not sure.
DETENTIONS
You must attend detentions that you are issued. If your parents would like a detention changed to another date they should write a letter before the detention to the relevant teacher.
If you observe these rules you will find that life at Queens’ School will be more orderly and pleasant for everyone. Your relations with your teachers and your fellow students will be easier. You will look smart. Your property will be safer and the buildings and grounds will remain cleaner and more attractive.
